Cong to blame for ethnic clashes: AGP

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, Jan 8 The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today claimed that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has lost the moral right to stay in power and he should tender his resignation.

AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary said that Congress is primarily responsible for the ethnic clashes along the Assam-Meghalaya border areas as over the years, no step was taken for the overall development of the area.

Patowary alleged that though Gogoi made tall promises on the first day of 2011, they remained only on paper. He said that a year back, Gogoi had said that the Government would provide housing facilities for the people hit by flood and erosion, but instead of doing so, he arranged for his own housing in USA.
