Cong single largest party in Imphal polls

IMPHAL, June 8 - The ruling Indian National Congress (INC) has emerged as the single largest party winning 12 of the 27 wards of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) while opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 10 and remaining five seats went to Independent candidates. The final results were declared on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, three Independent councillors out of five, have joined Congress helping it to emerge the single largest party in IMC. The Congress is now likely to form the first civic body of the city after its upgradation into a Corporation.
