Cong retains Liromoba seat in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Feb 16 � The ruling Congress in Arunachal Pradesh has retained the Liromoba Assembly seat with its candidate Nyamar Karbak defeating his nearest rival Bai Gadi of BJP by a slender margin of 119 votes in the bye-election held on February 13 last.

Though the Liromoba bye-poll witnessed a multi-cornered contest, the main battle was between the Congress and BJP. The 25-year-old Karbak won 3,808 votes as against Gadi�s 3,689 votes.

Out of the three independent candidates, Lijum Ronya, a former state minister, emerged third with 2,589 votes, while Raksap Yomcha and Johny Tali got 355 and 40 votes respectively.
