CM urges NFR to expedite double-tracking works

GUWAHATI, June 17 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has urged the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to speed up double-tracking works in the State, especially in the Guwahati-Lumding stretch.

Sonowal made this request during a meeting with senior officials of the NFR here yesterday evening, stated an official release.

He also asked the NFR to recruit at least 5,000 youths from the North Eastern region in Grade III and IV posts of the Indian Railways.

The NFR officials told Sonowal that electrification works between Katihar and Bongaigaon would be completed by March 2018.

They also informed the Chief Minister that sanction has already been made for undertaking double-tracking works in the Bongaigaon-Guwahati section.
