GUWAHATI, Nov 1 � In a letter to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, senior lawyer of Gauhati High Court Bhaskar Dev Konwar has urged the former to issue necessary direction to the State Government�s legal team to initiate appropriate legal action against the ONGC in the Gauhati High Court in a manner similar to the Gujarat Government.
Konwar wrote the letter to the Chief Minister referring to the news item under the caption �Gogoi threatens to stop ONGC operation in state� published in The Assam Tribune dated October 31, 2014.
�The contents of the news item filled my heart with pride that our state has a Chief Minister who is so concerned about the welfare and interest of Assam. But it would have been wise if legal proceedings were initiated as was done by the Gujarat Government,� the letter said.
