Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu has directed the work to be completed within one week, said an official statement.

The work is being undertaken by the Sonapur Circle Officer with the assistance of the police, CRPF and National Highways Authority of India.

Dr Angamuthu had conducted an inspection of the drainage system along the NH 37 and found it to be unsatisfactory.

Meanwhile, in an eviction drive yesterday, the district administration demolished 18 kuccha houses illegally built on government land along the River Brahmaputra in the Uzan Bazar locality. Around four bighas were cleared of encroachment during the drive.
