City hospital to integrate yoga, medication

GUWAHATI, May 20 - In accordance with the vision of �Holistic Healthcare�, Excel Care Hospitals, Guwahati, has undertaken an initiative to promote �integrative healthcare� which brings conventional medicine and complementary medicine, like yoga and meditation together in a coordinated way, to accelerate the healing process and also bring a sense of fulfilment.

A fully functional yoga and wellness unit � christened as Svadhaya � run by a dedicated team of yoga practitioners, has been set up in the hospital. It is also an endeavour of the hospital to raise awareness about integrated healthcare in the region, a release stated.

Excel Care has decided to initiate a month-long programme from May 22 as a countdown to the International Yoga Day. To start with, a programme covering a comprehensive module of practicable yoga techniques, with follow-up sessions for professionals in a few select institutes and organisations, has been planned.

This programme will aid in bringing together a cross-section of participants from different walks of life to share their experiences of adopting yoga as a complementary method of healing. Simultaneously, a social media campaign is also being planned from the month of June to complement the efforts towards this initiative of integrated healthcare.
