GUWAHATI, Oct 22 - �Circle officers have an important role in taking administration to the grassroots and they must ensure proper implementation of government schemes while maintaining close relation with the public so that democratic values are strengthened. They must contribute in building a transparent administrative system by acting as the bridge between the government and the public.� Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this while speaking at a workshop on revenue administration for the revenue officers organised by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department at the Assam Administrative Staff College here today.
Saying that the present State government has been striving to set up a transparent and clean administrative system from the very beginning, Sonowal urged the circle officers to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication so that the people can benefit from the government schemes. Committed service delivery would also enable them to earn respect from the people, he said.
Stating that the circle officers must ensure that corruption does not affect grassroots administration, the Chief Minister urged them to make the farmers, women, senior citizens, youths in the rural areas aware about various schemes taken by the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a lot of schemes for the underprivileged section of society and corruption must be totally removed from the system so that the schemes reach the intended beneficiaries, he said.
During the interaction with the circle officers, Sonowal reviewed the implementation status of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, Ujjwala Yojna, providing land pattas to indigenous inhabitants, circle-specific social issues, agricultural schemes, etc.
Minister of State for Revenue and Disaster Management Bhabesh Kalita, Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Lohia and Principal Secretary of Revenue Department Rajesh Prasad were also present at the workshop.
