CID files second chargesheet

GUWAHATI, June 19 - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today filed the second part chargesheet with the Court of Special Judge, Assam in connection with the multi-crore-rupee excise evasion case naming Bonty Gogoi, the licensee of the BG bonded warehouse, as another prime accused.

In the first chargesheet, the CID had named liquor trader Rajesh Jalan as the prime accused. Bonty Gogoi, according to sources, worked as a proxy to Jalan. Both Bonty Gogoi and Jalan are currently in judicial custody.

So far, three persons, including excise official Amarendra Nath, have been arrested by the investigating agency in connection with the case.

The excise evasion case (54/15) of BG bonded warehouse was registered under section 120(B), 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. The CID had questioned a number of top government officials in this connection.
