Chief Minister to attend Mahila Samaroh in Golaghat

DERGAON, June 21 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will attend the Mahila Samaroh and distribute one-time financial assistance to various women self-help groups of Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency to be held at Samannay Kshetra, Golaghat, a press release stated.

The programme is being organised by the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission in cooperation with the district administration, Golaghat, financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 each will be distributed to eligible women self-help groups under the Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Aachoni to ensure financial independence among the beneficiaries. Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Dr Himata Biswa Sarma, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, Industries & Commerce Minister CM Patowary and Labour and Employment Minister Pallab Lochan Das are likely to attend the programme.

Altogether 20,000 women self-help groups of various Assembly constituencies of Nagaon and Golaghat districts under Kaliabor Lok Sabha Constituency will take part in the programme. A total of 4, 865 self-help groups from Golaghat will receive financial assistance under this scheme.

A meeting to discuss the preparation works for the event was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner today. Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra chaired the meeting. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zilla Parishad PK Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioners Orpah Baglary and Utpal Doley, DSP Partha Pratim Saikia, DPM, NRLM, Lakhinandan Goswami, BDOs and heads of various departments along with representatives of various political parties and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
