Chief Minister Sonowal visits ailing Tarun Gogoi at GMCH

GUWAHATI, Nov 5 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today visited the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and took stock of the health condition of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who is presently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Sonowal interacted with Gogoi and wished him a speedy recovery.

�Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is a fatherly figure to me and I visited the hospital today as a son to take stock of his health condition. Senior doctors of the hospital are constantly taking care of his health and his condition is gradually improving. He is our senior and we have a lot to do together in the interest of the people of the State,� Sonowal said during his interaction with the media after the visit.

Sonowal said Gogoi has expressed satisfaction with the medical services being provided at the GMCH. He also said that the condition of Gogoi�s health is gradually improving.

Chief Minister�s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami also accompanied Sonowal during the visit to the hospital.

Sources added that no political discussions took place between Sonowal and Gogoi.

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass also visited the GMCH to enquire about the health of the veteran Congress party leader.

�I wished him (Gogoi) a speedy recovery. I found him in good spirits, although he is still physically weak. But his mind is very active. I reminded him how we had eaten S-biscuits together when I was serving as Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly,� Dass told reporters.

Meanwhile, GMCH Superintendent Dr Abhijit Sarma said that Gogoi�s health is now stable and there have been no complications during the past 24 hours.

The former Chief Minister was admitted to the GMCH on Sunday night after he complained of restlessness.
