Chamber of Commerce brings together entrepreneurs, experts

GUWAHATI, Feb 13 - Indian Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday conducted a programme �ICC INSPIRATION-Women Entrepreneurship-Necessity to Opportunity� here with an objective to bring together the leaders and successful women entrepreneurs, business experts, self-help groups and aspiring female entrepreneurs to share their business strategies and experiences to inspire women entrepreneurs.

Prabhat Bezboruah, Co-Chairman of Indian Chamber of Commerce, NE, and Chairman, Tea Board of India, in his speech said participation of women is the key for economic development of the country.

Dr Rupali Basu, Chairman-ICC, National Expert Committee on Women Entrepreneurship, Director and CEO, Woodlands Multispecialty Hospitals Ltd, motivating the women entrepreneurs of the Northeast, talked about the scopes and potentialities of the region to enhance entrepreneurship.

Head, Centre for Industrial Extension, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, Dr Sriparna B Baruah stated that the country cannot grow without development of the half of its population, i.e., women, and that confidence, sprit and knowledge are crucial for achieving success in entrepreneurship.

Aashish Kasad, Tax Partner for Ernst & Young LLP, India and the India Region Diversity and Inclusiveness Leader, talked about the importance of skill development and increasing women employment to create an ecosystem for boosting economy.

Dr Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Guwahati, talked about the scopes of entrepreneurial initiatives between India and Bangladesh and called upon women to take the opportunity for innovative startups. He hailed the India-Bangladesh Stakeholders Meet held here in October for promoting trade and connectivity.

Nayana Madhu Dutta, Senior Manager, Public Affairs, CSR, Oil India Ltd, said women entrepreneurship is key for socioeconomic development of the nation and shared the contribution of various CSR activities for women entrepreneurship development.
