CBSE chess tourney begins

GUWAHATI, Sept 5 - The CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship was inaugurated here today by Joint Commissioner of Assam Police Diganta Borah in the presence of Chairman of RGS AK Pansari, Vice Chancellor of Royal Global University Dr SP Singh, CBSE observer Santanu Ghosh, among others at the Royal Global School here today.

Altogether 50 schools from the Far East Zone comprising the states of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal and Assam are participating in this three-day team championship event held under the aegis of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Royal Global School is the first school from the Northeast region to have hosted this event, stated a press release.

Matches in the age groups of U-11 mixed, U-11 girls, U-14 mixed, U-14 girls, U-17 mixed, U-17 girls, U-19 mixed and U-19 girls will be conducted in the championship.
