Cash reward for Hima Das

DIBRUGARH, Aug 26 - The Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for sprinter Hima Das, the first Indian to win gold at the U-20 championships held recently at Tampere, Finland.

Ashok Kumar Singh, Managing Director, BCPL, said the 18-year-old sprinter from Nagaon district � who won gold in the women�s 400m � is a glowing example to the world as to how commitment and hard work can bring sporting excellence at the highest level even without a proper sporting infrastructure. As a responsible corporate citizen, BCPL is committed to promoting sporting activities at the regional and national levels, he said. Hima Das is the eldest daughter of Ranjit Das and Jonali Das.
