Cancer hospital donates medicines to palliative care centre

JORABAT, March 19 - The North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (NECHRI), Jorabat donated medicines to Sacred Heart Palliative Care at Hasthinapur near here today at the initiative of its managing director Dr MN Baruah.

Dr Gitartha Roymedhi, in-charge of Social Healthcare Management of NECHRI handed over the medicines worth thousands of rupees to Sister Ancy George, administrator of SHPC.

�SHPC is run by Catholic sisters who provide accommodation and care to patients suffering from terminal illnesses. Most of the patients admitted there are living below the poverty line (BPL). SHPC provides free care to those patients. NECHRI is supporting SHPC in providing quality services to needy patients. Doctors and medical teams from NECHRI often visit the SHPC to help the admitted patients,� said Dr Roymedhi.

�Only medicine is not enough to treat such patients. They need a healing touch too. NECHRI is trying to provide the best care to the patients along with the sisters of SHPC,� Dr Roymedhi added.
