Campaign on adolescent health ends

SHILLONG, Feb 14 - The Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) campaign concluded here today coinciding with the Valentine�s Day celebration in which a musical show was organised for the youth.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary PW Ingty said that the RKSK is an important programme that targets a crucial phase in the life of a person (adolescence), which is the period of transition from childhood to adulthood.

The RKSK was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on January 7, 2014. It is basically a health programme for adolescents in the age group of 10 to 19 years, focusing primarily on nutrition, reproductive health and substance abuse.

The objective of the RKSK is to enable all adolescents in India to realise their full potential by making informed and responsible decisions related to their health and well-being and by accessing the services and support available.
