DIMAPUR, Feb 18 - Two days after the Nagaland School Education Department issued notices to teachers who keep proxies at their respective places of posting, the All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) has called for suitable action against such untoward and appalling practice.
ANSTA president Visato Koso, in a release, today said the department should punish those who have failed to comply with its directive.
On Saturday, the Principal Director, School Education Department, Shanavas C, issued an order directing those teachers who have kept proxies to immediately report to their respective schools and send two photographs of them one in front of the school and the other teaching inside the classroom every working day, unless directed otherwise, from their own e-mail IDs registered with the department.
The order said strict disciplinary action, including suspension and termination of service, would be initiated for failure to comply with the directive.
It said 438 teachers from different districts of the State as listed in the departments website had been found keeping proxy teachers during the verification drive carried out by the Directorate of School Education in October and November, 2019.
Extending support to the exercise carried out by the department to check the menace, the ANSTA said it is reprehensible that teachers should indulge in such ignominious practices. It expressed serious concern that such activities carried out by a few thoughtless teachers would reflect upon those who truly dedicate themselves to the noble task.
The association appealed to all the responsible teachers to rededicate themselves to their profession while keeping themselves away from any activities that degrade the teaching profession.
