PARIS, Nov 5: Top Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna, partnering Romanian Florin Mergea, entered the mens doubles quarter-finals of the Paris Masters at the Palais Omnisports here.

It wasnt an easy outing as the eighth seeds needed an hour and 33 minutes to overcome Colombian pairing of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-7(3), 6-4, 10-5 in the second round of the 3,288,530-euro ($3.5 million) tournament on Wednesday.

After sharing the first two sets it all boiled down to the super tie-break where Bopanna and Mergea, who received a first round bye, proved far better to clinch the breaker and the match.

An area where the eighth seeds would want to work upon is their service as the Indo-Romanian combine committed as many as six double faults in the match. Overall, they got six breakpoint opportunities, converting half of them. In comparison, Cabal and Farah also earned six chances but converted two. Also, Bopanna and Mergea won 75 of the 148 points played in the match. IANS
