Bodo Sahitya Sabha�s 58th annual meet gets under way at Gohpur

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Jan 22 - The 58th annual conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha got under way with a three-day-long programme at Daimalu High School playground, Gohpur in Biswanath district today.

The conference was declared open in the morning by inaugurating the main gate of the conference by Utpal Borah, MLA of Gohpur LAC. It was followed by the inauguration of the main pandal by Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora. The delegate camps were inaugurated by Narendra Shah, SDO (C), Gohpur and Anil Basumatari, general secretary of Sanmilita Bodo Gana Mancha. The rest of the days� programmes include flag hoisting by Taren Boro, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, homage to martyrs and departed BSS activists, release of the souvenir and other books, various literary and merit award presentation and felicitation ceremony of Sahitya Akademi Award recipients in the Bodo language, poets� meet, delegate session, cultural exchange programme between the Bodos and the Arunachali people on the theme of �Strengthening the Unity and Brotherhood�, cultural night and open session.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Arunachal Chief Minister Prema Khandu, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohiliary, Taren Boro, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, among others, are likely to attend the open session. A good number of Bodo scholars, artists, student leaders, politicians and social workers will be present during the conference.
