Blood camp

GUWAHATI, May 15 - Biofit Gym, Ganeshguri, in association with the North East Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, today organised a blood donation camp where 25 units of blood were donated.

The meeting, among others, suggested that a detailed study should be carried out to find the origin or sources of such contamination of the Brahmaputra. It also called for emphasis on scientific solid waste management practices to avoid the impacts from leachate and e-waste pollution into the rivers.

Moreover, it said existing and upcoming water supply schemes of the city should have command area specific water safety plan, as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines to ensure supply of uninterrupted safe drinking water, besides forming a city-based water quality task force involving all the departments and agencies concerned.
