NAGAON, Dec 19 - Smashing all speculations, the ruling BJP has whitewashed all the Opposition parties including the Congress and Aam Admi Party and won all the 10 Tiwa Autonomous Council seats in the district.
As per results declared this afternoon by the concerned returning officer, BJP candidates � Kamal Bordoloi won from 20 no. Baropujia constituency, Suraj Kunwar won from 21 no. Tupakuchi, Biswajyoti Pator won from 22 no. Pukhuripar constituency, Geetamoni Kalita won from 23 no. Jorabari constituency, Pranbjyoti Mustang won from 24 no. Jungalbalahu constituency, Mohan Senapati won from 25 no. Sahari constituency, Bitu Bordoloi won from 28 no. Lutumari constituency and Ajit Pator won from 29 no Komargaon seat while Indra Bordoloi and Madan Bordoloi from the saffron party won respectively from 30 no. Nambar Lalungaon and 31 no. Lalungpar seats.
Only in 20 no. Baropujia constituency, Congress candidate Ashok Gaonkhuwa fought a neck-and-neck battle with BJP candidate Kamal Bordoloi. But finally he had to lose to Bordoloi by only 72 votes. BJP candidate Kamal Bordoloi captured 2345 votes while Congress candidate Ashok Gaonkhuwa got 2273 votes. But in other constituencies, the Opposition Congress candidate were far behind in the race.
Similarly, two AGP candidates � Punakon Bordoloi in Nambor Lalungaon and Nagen Bordoloi in Lalungpar under Barhampur LAC who were patronized by the current local AGP MLA and former Chief Minister PK Mahanta, could not give a proper fight against the BJP candidates and finally lost.
AGP candidates in Nambor Lalungaon and Lalungpar seats captured 561 and 1597 votes respectively while the ruling BJP candidates received 1700 and 2751 votes respectively.
As per the latest voting figures issued by District Information and Public Relations office, Nagaon, in Topakuchi seat, Congress got 955 votes and BJP 2777 votes; in Pukuripar constituency, Congress � 1335 and BJP � 3653; in Jorabari constituency, Congress � 1335 and BJP � 2880; in Jungalbalahu constituency, Congress � 958 and BJP � 3164; in Sahari constituency, Congress � 1916 and BJP � 2911; in Lutumari constituency, Congress � 918 and BJP � 1059 and in Kamargaon constituency, Congress attained 1536 votes while the ruling BJP captured 3151 votes.
