JORHAT, Feb In a press conference here today, BJPs State spokesperson Rupam Goswami said his party will get the mandate to form more than 50 civic bodies in the State in the ensuing civic polls.

According to him, the wave of BJPs popularity has not dwindled in the State despite several attempts of political conspiracy by the Congress as well as other parties and opponents. The wave of our popularity remains the same as it was before the last general election. In Jorhat also we will win the mandate for constituting the municipal board, said Goswami. The voters belonging to the minority communities also seek the BJP because of its all round welfare policy, he added.

He also campaigned for many of his party candidates of Jorhat on Thursday in different localities, along with the partys general secretary Santanu Pujari and other colleagues.

Highlighting the partys strategy for convincing the municipal voters, district president Kamakhya Mohan Das said that people of Jorhat will vote for BJP as they were deprived of adequate civic amenities due to the corrupt practices of the past officials, who belonged to Congress party.

Asked why they remained mute on the burning issues of alleged corruption in the city, the BJP office-bearers said that they will intensify their fight against corruption in the coming days across the district.

BJPs executive member Jadav Doloi, district general secretary Surjya Jyoti Chowdhuri and Rintu Kumar Barua also attended the press meet.
