NAGAON, Jan 9 - Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its alleged failure to carry out developmental works in the State.
Addressing a programme organised by his party to felicitate winners in the panchayat election here on Saturday, Gogoi said that the saffron party had failed on all fronts and the voters have started rejecting the party.
The BJP is trying to divide the people of Assam in the name of the Citizenship Bill, which is very unfortunate. The voters have now realised the evil design of the BJP and will give a befitting reply in the ensuing Lok Sabha election, he speculated.
Criticising Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, besides Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tooth and nail, Gogoi alleged that both the leaders have betrayed the people of Assam.
APCC president Ripun Bora, former ministers Rockybul Hussain, Gautam Bora, senior Congress leader Harish Rawat, MP Gaurav Gogoi and other dignitaries of Pradesh Congress were also present at the felicitation function and delivered lectures on various issues of state politics and mass hysteria created by the ruling BJP.
