A statement from the BJP office here said that the agitators turned up in large numbers, denouncing the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre as well as the Congress Government in Assam and shouting slogans.

The BJP leaders asserted that there would be no let-up in its stir until the treaty was rescinded. We will see to it that the treaty is not ratified in either Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabhathis is a conspiracy to deprive the people of Assam of their own land, it said.

The BJP also demanded a white paper on the treaty, saying that the Government must make public what Assam would gain from the agreement which was signed keeping the people in the dark.
