BJP forms Sivasagar Zila Parishad with AGP support

SIVASAGAR, Feb 9 - The Bharatiya Janata Party constituted the Sivasagar Zila Parishad with the support of AGP on Thursday.

In the elections held for the purpose, BJP�s Dhrubajyoti Mout was elected president while Rekha Kalita from Amguri was elected as vice president in the 17-member body.

They defeated their rivals Uttam Das and Tulumoni Bora Konwar by three votes each. Dr S Laksmanan, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar administered them oath of office while Sewali Bordoloi, Chief Executive Officer of Sivasagar Zila Parishad felicitated the newly-elected members with phulam gamusas.

In the oath-taking ceremony, representative of Jorhat MP, MLAs of Amguri, Thowra, Mahmora, Nazira and Sivasagar were present, besides revenue officers of Sivasagar, Demow, Gaurisagar and Amguri.
