GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - SiX18, a biennial architectural festival will be held from November 9 to 11 at the Assam State Museum here under the aegis of SiX, a group of architects working towards generating public awareness about architecture, in collaboration with the State Directorate of Museums.
The three-day festival, aimed at facilitating interactions between architects and members of the public, will have around 50 participants from across India and abroad. Besides architects, participants will include designers, artists, academicians and other citizens.
An architectural exhibition will feature works of around 30 architects. LOCATE 6, a series of architectural walks at strategic places in the city, is already being conducted over the last one month as a build-up to the biennial. Participants for the walks, eminent people drawn from different backgrounds, are being introduced by the team to various aspects of the built environment. This has led to interesting dialogues and discourses and will culminate in a panel discussion on the built character of the city on November 9, the first day of the biennial.
The panellists for this discussion will be the participants of the walks.
Interactive sessions on sustainability and co-existence will be conducted for school children on November 10. This will be followed by presentations on various aspects related to architecture by eminent architects and academicians of national repute.
Architect Mela, an architectural consultancy fair, will be held on the morning of November 11. Wither the Role of the Architect, a panel discussion on architectural practice, also to be held on the same day, will see architects and professionals from varied other fields debate the state and future of professional practice.
