SILCHAR, Sept 23 - In yet another move to strengthen ties between Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, the film fraternity of the state has proposed a common platform for the rich pool of talents.
On the sidelines of the ongoing Indo-Bangla Drama Fest organised by the Sanmilita Sanskritik Mancha Silchar, a discussion on the prospects of collaborative film production by the two valleys was held here on Saturday.
Acclaimed film actor Pranjal Saikia expressed his views and pointed out the bright prospect of joint effort by the two valleys in film production. However, there has to be a worthy script on which production and actors work, he mentioned.
�There is a possibility for us to work together in film production provided there is a sound script and people to manage the production. Technical areas can be addressed with the assistance from experts in the field,� Saikia said.
He further said that film production enthusiasts from Barak Valley must register themselves with the film fraternity of Assam. There are organisations like Beekshan Cine Commune and Ritwiz Cine Art Society in Barak Valley and hence efforts to come up with a joint production is only a matter of time, Saikia maintained. Other noteworthy film and theatre personalities from Guwahati like Nayan Prasad, Kiron Shankar Roy, Biswajit Shil from Silchar Soumitra Adhikari and N Bhattacharjee from Karimganj also took part in the discussion.
Earlier, noted theatre personality from Silchar and convener of the discussion Soumitra Shankar Choudhury touched upon the hurdles in film production in southern Assam. He underlined the need for tapping the talents which can pave the way for creative excellence across the state.
