Bhogali Bihu celebrated in Saudi Arabia

GUWAHATI, Jan 20 - One of the State�s most significant and admired festivals, Bhogali or Magh Bihu, was celebrated by the Assamese community in Saudi Arabia with solemnity and vivacity. Bihu was celebrated on January 15 at SAFCO beach camp in Jubail amid a lot of fun and fanfare. This was stated in a press release.

The day began with the savouring of traditional and some non-traditional snacks like pitha, laru, sweets etc. A sizeable group of families from various parts in Jubail and Khobar attended the celebrations. The children and adults alike passionately enjoyed various games like tekilibhanga, etc. Not surprisingly, the celebration also included a number of cultural songs and dancing by the participants.

A bountiful and sumptuous lunch was then arranged, which was home-cooked by the attending families and included mutton curry, chicken curry, masor tenga, fish curry, matar paneer and many more dishes. In addition, there was a full assortment of home-made desserts including custard, sweets, etc.
