BG station demanded at Dekapam

DHEMAJI, Oct 15 - Hundreds of people of Jonai along with members of Railway Station Demand Committee blocked the Murkongselek-Rangiya Down Passenger train at Dekapam portion of this route in Dhemaji district on Thursday.

The protesters blocked the train for about an hour at Dekapam and registered their protest. They demanded re-installation of BG rail station at the location, which the NF railway authority closed down about a decade ago after some miscreants killed a Railway official there.

Dekapam area located in between Telam and Silapathar stations in Dhemaji district of North Assam, has around 30,000 population, though the area has been deprived from availing proper Railway service.

The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the General Manager of NF Railway demanding re-installation of a BG railway station at Dekapam for the collective convenience of the local people.
