Bandh cripples normal life in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, July 11 - The 24-hour district bandh called in protest against the Government�s decision to auction 12 marginalised oil fields passed off peacefully today. However, the bandh totally crippled normal life in the district.

All business establishments and financial institutions remained closed during the day. Barring a few private vehicles, all modes of public transport kept off the road. Attendance in most of the Government offices was thin.

The bandh was called jointly by the Tai Ahom Chatra Sanstha, All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam, Chutia Chatra Sanstha, Gorkha Chatra Sanstha and Brihotor Asomiya Yuva Mancha respectively.
