ITANAGAR, March 7 - BJP MLA from Aalo West Constituency, Tumke Bagra, was today unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Since there was only one nomination filed in favour of Bagra, the BJP MLA was declared elected to the post by Assembly Speaker T Norbu Thongdok during the second days proceedings of the 10-day Budget Session.

This will be his second term as Deputy Speaker. He had previously held the post for a short stint during the Kalikho Pul-led PPA regime. However, Bagra had to relinquish the post in July last year after the Supreme Court had reinstated the previous Congress-led Nabam Tuki Government in the State.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Speaker Thongdok exuded confidence that the newly elected Deputy Speaker would assist the Speaker in smooth conduct of the proceedings by maintaining the dignity of the House.
