BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 10 - An awareness meet against the spread of rumours of child-lifting and witch-hunting was held today at the Madhupur weekly market here under the aegis of Biswanath district administration.
Chaired by senior citizen Surendra Nath Baruah, the speakers called upon the public not to fall prey to rumours. Friday�s incident in Karbi Anglong was widely condemned. Those guilty should be awarded exemplary punishment, the meet demanded.
Similar meetings were also organised by the Gohpur sub-divisional administration at Gohpur and Teton Pukhuri weekly markets today in which SDO (C) Dr Indranasee Das and others spoke.
