DERGAON, Sept 3 - The Dergaon coordination committee of Karunadhara organised an awareness meeting at Kamargaon today.
The meeting, chaired by the president of the committee Binod Kumar Sarma and held at Kamargaon Community Hall was attended by a large gathering. Explaining the vision and mission, the president shared the history of Karunadhara for starting a movement for compassion under the able guidance of noted litterateur Homen Borgohain.
Explaining the objective of the meeting, secretary Rajendra Nath Bora vividly explained the activities of the organisation which was devoted to betterment of physically and mentally disturbed as well as critically ill persons along with the activities of the Dergaon committee since its inception in 2014.
He revealed the amount of money distributed among eight patients suffering from critical diseases in and around greater Dergaon. He also informed that more than Rs 90,000 was deposited in the account of Karunadhara on behalf of Dergaon committee thus far.
In the meeting, a cheque of Rs 30,140 was handed over to Ashim Hazarika, who is critically ill. The president of the publicity wing of the committee Pradip Bora and Kalpana Bora Dutta delivered their speeches on Karunadhara.
Addressing the meeting, Bharat Bora, Pradip Hazarika, Pranab Pujari, Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika, Mahendra Nath Bora, Jibon Hazarika, Dhrubajyoti Bora etc. expressed their satisfaction over the mission and vision of the organisation and assured full cooperation to the activities of the organisation. Several persons present on the occasion promised pecuniary donations to the organisation. The meeting was attended by well-wishers of the organisation, namely Parbati Prasad Sarmah, Dr Prakash Kondoly, Nripen Pujari and Rebakanta Dutta, among others.
