ATEU offers moral support to protest against citizenship Bill

GUWAHATI, Jan 6 - The Assam Tribune Employees� Union (ATEU) today announced its moral support to the protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, called by various organisations on January 8 and 9.

The ATEU also condemned the �anti-worker policy and anti-people economic policy� of the BJP-led Central government and the proposed privatisation of banks, airports and oilfields of the country.

In a statement, ATEU president Santanava Hazarika and secretary Dugdha Ram Kalita said that a protest against the anti-people policy of the Union government is the need of the hour as it has affected all sections of people.

The ATEU also urged all newspaper publication houses to implement the Majithia wage board recommendations.

The Union also asked the State government to take immediate steps to revive the Jagiroad and Cachar paper mills and to release salaries of the workers.
