GUWAHATI, July 14 The monsoon session of the Assam Assembly will begin tomorrow. The session will continue for five days.

The Assembly is likely to witness debates on issues such as price rise, granting of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six agitating ethnic groups of the State, etc.

The Congress is likely to issue whip to its legislators on the day of tabling of the Appropriation Bill for supplementary grants.

The session comes at a time when both the ruling Congress and the opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) are being plagued by raging internal squabbles.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around the Assembly premises. Prohibitory orders and restrictions on traffic have been imposed during the days of the Assembly session.
