GUWAHATI, Feb 17 � Ranji captain Gokul Sharma has been retained as captain of the Assam team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy limited over cricket tournament. Announcing the team today, Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah said the East Zone league matches will be played in Kolkata from February 20 to 29.
After a dismal show in the Ranji Trophy Plate Division, now Assam will try their luck in the shorter version of the game. Due to an injury during the recently concluded Duleep Trophy matches, leading pace bowler Abu Nechim Ahmed has to sit out from the 15-member squad.
