GUWAHATI, July 11 � With Assembly session beginning tomorrow amidst threat perception, Assam Police has roped in around 10 battalions of CRPF and one Assam Police Battalion to ensure foolproof security in and around the State Assembly.
PK Bhattacharya, Deputy Inspector General (Central West Range) told The Assam Tribune that the vulnerable points have been identified and deployment would be done accordingly.
Bhattacharya also informed that keeping in view the situation, the wireless communication system has also been put in place and the system is being checked in regular intervals to ensure better correspondence.
While informing that security measures across the city is being reviewed, the senior official stated that the department has also procured emergency vehicles, besides adequate number of tear gas and pumping machine to thwart any kind of mob violence.
�There could be protest by various organisations and to control them, we are equally prepared,� he said.
Meanwhile, another senior official told this reporter that in view of the threat from the banned National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), security cover for the vulnerable areas in and around the city too has not been compromised.
�There would be round the clock vigil around all the vital installations, including railway stations, airport, bridges and other crowded places,� he pointed out.
He went on to inform that security measures are being reviewed from time to time and necessary changes are being made as when necessary.
