GUWAHATI, Feb 12 - Tripura batsmen showed little respect to Assam bowlers on the opening day of the four-day Elite Group C Ranji Trophy match at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara here today.

Put into bat, the visiting batsmen piled up 387 for the loss of seven wickets in 89 overs and placed themselves in a comfortable position. Assam pacer Ranjit Mali made a bright start claiming two wickets with Tripuras total reading 14. But after that opener Akraprabha Sinha and number four batsman Pratyush Singh stitched a 136-run partnership for the third wicket which laid the foundation of the Tripura innings.

Later the lower order batsmen were ruthless against the toothless Assam bowling and punished them all round the wicket.

Opener Sinha was the top scorer of the day with 90 off 109 deliveries hitting 18 boundaries. Manishankar Murasingh remained unbeaten on 82 off 107 balls with 11 hits to the fence. Pratyush Singh (63 off 73 balls) and Milind Kumar (53 off 62 balls) were the other batsmen to score half centuries.
