Assam Association Mumbai making all efforts to help people

GUWAHATI, May 26 - The Assam Association Mumbai (AAM) has made all efforts to help the distressed people from Assam who were facing enormous problems due to COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, a press release stated.

As per the guidelines of nodal officer, Government of Assam, the Assam Association Mumbai has taken up the registration process by online filling up of forms with details of individuals comprising students, patients and attendants and the people from the art, culture and the film industry who are eagerly waiting to leave for Assam.

Devasish Sharma, Joint Resident Commissioner, Government of Assam took the initiative for arranging a train and coordinated with the Government of Maharashtra and the Railway Department. A train with 1400 passengers left for Dibrugarh, Assam from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai on May 23. The journey was completely free of cost and the food was also provided by different voluntary organisations to each passenger.

The Assam Association Mumbai has expressed its gratitude to Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Chief Secretary, Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Director General of Police, Assam, AP Tiwari, Commissioner of Transport, Assam, Devasish Sharma, Joint Resident Commissioner, Government of Assam, Mumbai, officers and employees of Assam Bhawan, Mumbai, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai Police and officers of the Indian Railways, Mumbai for their help in this regard.
