GUWAHATI, Jan 3 Green Valley Sports Club should blame themselves for not entering the semifinals of the 62nd Bordoloi Trophy Football Tournament as they went down to a Kolkata outfit Aryan Club 3-4 via tie-breaker.

No team could break the deadlock during the regulation time in the second quarterfinal of the championship at the Nehru Stadium here today and in the penalty shoot- out, Green Valley squandered two shots against Aryans one.

The local team enjoyed distinct territorial supremacy and created several openings from which goals could have been scored. But their strikers Babatunde, Lucky Imran, substitutes Thomson Langthasa and Micheal Lucky could be blamed for their defeat as they missed atleast six opportunities among themselves.

Babatunde was the worst ofender as he alone squandered three easy sitters. However, Micheal missed the easiest scoring chance at the fag end of the match. Babatunde set the ball for Micheal who shot wide from inside the box in an empty goal.

The final 15 minutes of the match was completely dominated by Green valley but some smart goal keeping by Subhadeep Banerjee saved Aryan on several occasions.

The Kolkata players were hardly on target throughout the course. The Green Valley defenders did a commendable job by bottling up the Aryan attackers. Their frontliner Lob Mandal was the lone player who was a threat to the Green Valley defender with his speed and dribbling skill. He hardly got any support from his team mates.

In the tie-breaker, Sayan Dutta, Dipak Dolui, Lob Mandal and Chandrasish were on target while Biswarup Debs shot was saved by Green Valley custodian Cheerradeep Chattopadhaya. On the other hand, Babatunde, Lucky Imran and Maneswar Mushahary were the only successful strikers for Green Valley. Micheal Lucky and Jenga Rongmei shot straight to Aryan goalkeepers hand.

During the tie-breaker, Aryan goalkeeper Subhadeep Banerjee was substituted with Tonmoy Karmakar who saved the last shot.

Todays match: (Q/F) Shillong Lajong vs Assam Police Blues.
