ITANAGAR, Feb 12 - In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in neighbouring China, the Arunachal Pradesh Government has strengthened surveillance measures against the deadly disease in all districts.

The State Government has launched a 24x7 State control room at the State Surveillance Unit. Anyone requiring information or wanting to share information may contact the control room at 9436055743, 9612153293 and 9599929423 or dial the toll free number 11001902.

Till date, as shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are no passengers from Arunachal Pradesh who have been identified travelling to and from China or other coronavirus-affected countries, Dr L Jampa, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP), Directorate of Health Services, said on Tuesday.

He said all districts have conducted coordination meetings between the district administration and District Surveillance Units to review preparedness, identify isolation beds in district hospitals and disseminate information on coronavirus.

Dr Jampa said considering the global situation on coronavirus, the people have been advised to adhere to health advisories issued by the State Government.

Those who have arrived from corona-affected countries should remain under strict home isolation for 28 days from the date of arrival, irrespective of whether they have the symptoms or not. If anybody develops cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, they should put on masks and contact the nearest government health facility or call the 24x7 control room, Dr Jampa added.
