Arunachal pays rich tributes to PA Sangma

ITANAGAR, March 21 - Arunachal Assembly on Monday paid rich tributes to former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma, who passed away on March 4 last.

The members of the House observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Paying his homage to late Sangma, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul termed him as the most popular leader of North East and a true nationalist, who in his long political career earned recognition, name and fame in national politics. He was a source of inspiration, a mentor and a guide for many leaders, he said.

Senior BJP leader Japu Deru said: �In his passing away we have lost the tallest political figure from the North East as well as a great asset of the country.�

Congress leader Tanga Byaling described Sangma as the �best leader of NE�, saying his untimely demise was a great loss for the entire region.

Assembly Speaker Wangki Lowang said with his demise, the country especially the North East has lost a great leader.
