Arunachal Guv condoles Phookon�s demise

GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh JP Rajkhowa and the First Lady Rita Rajkhowa have condoled the sudden demise of the former Advocate General of Arunachal Pradesh, Amrit Kumar Phookon. He served as the AG of the State for six years. This was stated in a press release.

The Governor said that late Phookon was an eminent legal luminary who was acclaimed for his understanding of the intricate legal issues.

Recalling his association with late Phookon, since his childhood, who also served as Advocate General of Assam for long 14 years, the Governor said that he was a very down-to-earth person and always put forward his views freely and frankly on socio-political as well as legal issues. Late Phookon was a keen lover of sports, cricket in particular. It was through his initiative that Day and Night Cricket matches were started at Gitanagar High school ground, Guwahati, which created tremendous interest in young cricketers of the city.
