Arunachal Govt imposes cess on liquor sales

ITANAGAR, May 9 - The Arunachal Pradesh Government has decided to impose a cess of 25 per cent on all alcoholic beverages to augment the State�s economy in a bid to effectively tackle the COVID-19 crisis. This decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in Itanagar on Friday.

�To augment State�s own resources and to generate much needed revenue to combat COVID-19, the State Cabinet decided to levy a cess of 25% on MRP of all alcoholic beverages including IMFL, beer, imported alcoholic beverages & wine etc,� the Chief Minister said in a tweet. He said that the cess has been levied on retail prices and will be payable before movement of goods from the wholesale stores to the retail outlets.
