Arunachal Govt hands over hydrocarbon exploration licences

ITANAGAR, Feb 18 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today handed over petroleum exploration licences to Vedanta Limited for exploration of hydrocarbon resources at three blocks in Arunachal Pradesh.

These three blocks are spread across 74.4 sq km of area in three districts � Changlang, Tirap and West Siang. Hydrocarbon exploration consists of two phases � initial exploration phase and subsequent exploration phase � and each phase will run for three years with provision for an additional one-year extension.

The grant of licences will increase exploration activities in the hydrocarbon sector in the State. The exploration activities will reveal the potential hydrocarbon reservoir which, in turn, will benefit the State in terms of revenue, employment generation and infrastructure development through CSR activities, stated a release from the Chief Minister�s Office here.
