ITANAGAR, Sept 5 - Stating that education is the first barometer of a civilised society, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) today called upon all stakeholders, including parents, politicians and educationists, to actively participate in the �mission� to improve the education system in the State.
He suggested devising of innovative policies and programmes to improve the education scenario in the State which, he said, should have a pan-Arunachal approach and quality involvement of all stakeholders.
The Governor was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the Teacher�s Day celebration at the Golden Jubilee Banquet Hall here after presenting the State Teachers� Awards to 39 teachers, including seven women.
Congratulating the awardees, the Governor said that it is due to their efforts and dedication that the education scenario is improving in the State. He made a special mention of Niranjan Shahoo, a retired teacher, who is still rendering his service in the school where he had been teaching, in Kurung Kumey district.
Underscoring the challenges in the education sector, the Governor said that in the utilisation of resources, development of infrastructure and procurement and use of latest training and teaching aids, there must be transparency, accountability and fair policy.
Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, Education Secretary Madhu Rani Teotia and Special Secretary (Education) Rahul Singh also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor released a book titled Gandhiji�s Nai Talim.
