Arms deposit order

SHILLONG, April 3 - The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya today directed all license holders to deposit their arms and weapons at the nearest police station, outpost or beat house.

The order was passed in view of the Model Code of Conduct enforced for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

�Non-compliance of the order will result in imposition of penalties and punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than one year but which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine,� the order said.
