AIZAWL, March 15 - Four armed militants have allegedly threatened two Mizoram forest guards who were guarding the forests along Meidili river near Assam border to curb bamboo smuggling on Monday.
According to Mizo Zirlai Pawl (Mizo Students� Association), the two foresters were threatened at gun point by the four militants armed with AK-47 assault rifles and one pistol and told to stop guarding the riverine forest.
As they were outnumbered and outgunned, the two foresters fled towards Kanhmun town, as they were told to. The MZP statement said the militants fired at the forest guards� vehicle as it started off.
Kanhmun police immediately rushed to the spot, but the militants had fled. They said they received this information of militants threatening foresters, but could not confirm it.
