Ankushita accorded rousing welcome

TEZPUR, Nov 30 - The people of the greater Ulubari and Meghaijarani area today accorded a rousing welcome to the young women�s boxing star Ankushita Boro who arrived here this afternoon after four days of her great achievement in the AIBA Youth Women�s World Boxing Championship held in Guwahati.

Ankushita, after attending a felicitation function organised by the BTC authority, Kokrajhar yesterday arrived at Orang, under Udalguri District, last evening. After her overnight stay at Orang, the champion pugilist was received by the people of the Meghaijarani and Ulubari area this morning. She was welcomed by a huge rally. On the way to her native place, different organisations, including ABSU, AASU and different schools and colleges welcomed her with flower bouquet, aronai and phulam gamusa.

To felicitate the young pugilist publicly, a felicitation programme will be organised tomorrow by the Ulubari Yubak Sangha at Ulubari. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, local MLA Ashok Singhal, among others. In the same programme, Jamuna Boro � another prolific woman boxer from Belsiri area (Dhekiajuli) in Sonitpur who is preparing for 2020 Tokyo Olympics will also be felicitated.
