Amul to be official sponsor of Dutch team

AHMEDABAD, Feb 15 (PTI): Gujarat-based dairy giant Amul have become the official sponsors of the Netherlands cricket team for the soon-to-start World Cup.

The Royal Netherlands Cricket Board (RNCB) signed the sponsorship deal with Amul yesterday. Netherlands are a leading dairy-food producer country. Logo of Amul Butter, the brand marketed by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) which boasts of turnover of Rs 8,000-crore plus, will appear on the sleeve of saffron jersrys of players as well as on the training kits throughout the World Cup.

�We were looking to associate with the game of cricket for long....World cup came as a good opportunity and it clicked,� GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi said.

�We are getting associated with the Cricket World Cup for the first time and Amul welcomes the Netherlands team to Indian sub-continent,� he said. However, he did not divulge the amount of money involved in the sponsorship deal.

Netherlands are scheduled to play their first match against England on February 22 in Nagpur.
